A living ground emerges
The initiatory descent into the sacred infernal and subterranean worlds takes place in a profound relationship with the cycles of the cosmos and the ages of the earth. Integrating the seasons of the year or the phases of the moon, like the ancient memories of mineral stones, opens cracks to other narratives just by listening to the stories in full presence and with an open heart.
We are cartographers of ancestral territory, sacred rituals, and primordial archetypes. We invoke various primeval beings from Iberian wild mythology to help us feel, understand and belong in a profound generative alchemy, always ecosystemic and viscerally alive and contextual.
Writing is like weaving. Ritually passing threads of living words through the weave of concepts and ideas. Over and over again. Again and again, until the joining of various threads brings out cartographies and various patterns of the territory of each book.
Just like on a pilgrimage, you don't come out of writing unscathed, each word opening cracks through which we can access other layers, the hidden and invisible ones. But also the ecstatic and revelatory. The weaving of writing leaves me vulnerable and skinless with my heart in my hands because while a living book is being woven, its soul is intertwined in my dreams and day-to-day life. I carry it every moment, and the record of each book holds me here. Here. Writing is like giving ourselves over to the weaving of Life, with courage and affection. And you never, ever know where you'll end up next.
The small collection {Oikos-Psykhē journals} contains two volumes of notes and loose thoughts, some long and others short. They are compilations based on the articles published on this substack, in Vento e Água magazine, the Eco-Mythology podcast, and some new articles. Texts chosen, structured and organized to bring lines of support and unlearning, roots and clouds to unlearn normality. From heartache to collective enchantment. Here, we walk through rugged territory, sustaining a double gaze, ambiguous and paradoxical, carrying many feelings and possibilities for participation. A living ground emerges.
The first volume of {Oikos-Psykhē journals} is a study notebook on various dissonant themes of Ecopsychology, topics that are as challenging as they are sustaining.
The second volume of {cadernos de Oikos-Psykhē} is a notebook of Scream-Prayers, to be savored, felt and echoed. Together, they interweave other paradigms in different languages—an animist participation and co-creation, outside the lines of the modern psyche.
The author's edition of the small collection of {Oikos-Psykhē journals} is based on the interweaving of the ancient Greek prefix oikos (family and house/land, used today as eco, in ecology or economics) and psykhē,(soul, mind, invisible animating spirit of the physical body). Together, Oikos-Psykhē brings the possibility of rescuing and remembering the ecological, ecstatic, animistic, and mammalian psyche, with affection and patience, intergenerational.
